周末一場來自北極圈的冬季風暴席捲美國中部地區，低溫與大風雪造成多處斷電，德州超過400萬人無電可用，休士頓更驚傳兩名男子疑似凍死陳屍街頭。目前電力公司採取輪流供電模式，仍在加緊速度盼盡快正常供電。總統拜登已發布緊急狀態，鬆綁聯邦對德州的援助。部分民眾因家裡無電力供暖，紛紛躲在車上取暖，醫師警告可能增加一氧化碳中毒風險。而更有許多民眾不惜花四小時在速食店的得來速排上長長車龍，只為買到熱騰騰的食物。
回覆刪除德州是美國最大產油州，每天生產約460萬桶石油，也是國內一些大型煉油廠的所在地，這場冰風暴能源業也深受其害。莫帝瓦公司（Motiva Enterprises LLC）旗下，位於德州阿瑟港（Port Arthur）的國內最大煉油廠，該廠日產60萬7000桶石油宣布關閉，其他公司也陸續關閉部分所屬煉油廠，衝擊國際油價。西德州原油漲破每桶60美元價位，為逾一年來首見。
